Sufficiency Summer School 2025
Reimagining Paris: Sufficiency in Practice
Paris, 2-7 June 2025
After five months of collaborative research reviewing sufficiency policies and practices across four key domains – digitalization, food and nutrition, trade and competitiveness, and urban policy – graduate students from CARE partner universities will gather in Paris from 2 to 7 June 2025 to put theory into practice. With the City of Paris as their case study, students will examine current municipal strategies and develop concrete proposals rooted in the principle of sufficiency: doing better with less
Guided by city officials, CARE mentors and academic supervisors, students will work in teams to assess existing policies and identify how sufficiency can shape more equitable and sustainable urban futures. The program features two field visits: one in Paris and another in the Hauts-de-France region, offering students the chance to observe how sufficiency is being implemented in both urban and rural contexts. The week will culminate in a public presentation of students’ findings at the Académie du Climat on Friday 6 June.
This Summer School is co-organized by the CARE Program and the World Sufficiency Lab.
