The CARE Scholarship at University of British Columbia (UBC)

Scholarships equivalent to €26,500 (Euros) each are made available annually through a generous gift from the Fondation David R. Graham for outstanding students from France who are enrolled in the Master of Public Policy and Global Affairs (MPPGA) program in the Resources, Energy, and Sustainability stream at the University of British Columbia. The Climate Adaptation, Resilience and Empowerment (CARE) Program supports the next generation of climate-conscious global leaders who have the knowledge, skilis and experience to generate hands-on solutions to address the climate crisis.

Awards are made on the recommendation of the School of Public Policy and Global Affairs, in consultation with the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies. The first award is available for the 2025/2026 winter session.

Scholarships are available for students from France who are interested in pursuing graduate studies at UBC's School of Public Policy and Global Affairs in tapies related to CARE's core themes.

The CARE scholarship provides a significant financial contribution to student tuition, as well as to some of the living costs in Vancouver, British Columbia and some associated and travel to/from Paris and Vancouver over bath years of the degree program. Scholarship recipients will receive €26,500 each year of the degree program that will be allocated as follows:

  • €15,000 towards tuition fees
  • €10,000 towards living expenses
  • €1,500 for travel for up to 2 return flights between France and Canada (Vancouver) (awarded on the basis of receipts)

Selection

Eligible candidates for the CARE scholarship will be considered based on academic excellence (GPA) and relevant academic and professional experiences related to core CARE themes of environmental sustainability, climate change, biodiversity and/or energy transitions.

Selection of the recipient of the CARE scholarship will be at the discretion of the MPPGA Admissions Committee (various faculty) at the time of admission to the MPPGA program.
