Visiting the Sciences Po's Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA)
About Sciences Po
If you choose to come to Sciences Po’s Paris School of International Affairs (PSIA), you will gain access to a dynamic and interdisciplinary academic environment deeply engaged with global environmental and climate challenges. Sciences Po has a strong and growing profile in climate and environmental research, with numerous faculty members and research centers working on the political, economic, legal, and social dimensions of sustainability and climate action.
Where is Sciences Po?
Sciences Po is located in the historic Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in central Paris. Surrounded by cafés, bookshops, and cultural landmarks, Sciences Po PSIA offers a vibrant academic environment in one of the city’s most iconic and intellectually rich districts.
Opportunities for Engagement
You will have opportunities to connect with researchers across disciplines and to engage with several key research centers, including:
- Centre for International Studies (CERI) – with a strong focus on global environmental politics and diplomacy. Of particular interest, the Environment and International Relations research group.
- Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE) – contributing to cutting-edge research on European green policies and democratic transitions. Further details on the CEE’s environmental research.
- The Institute for Environmental Transformations coordinates all of Sciences Po’s actions in the field of environmental transformations.
- Since 2018, the Interdisciplinary workshop on environmental research (AIRE) has provided a structure for an interdisciplinary research collective, sharing and disseminating environmental research conducted at Sciences Po, combining humanities and social science disciplines, and initiating reflection on research approaches and practices in this area.
- The Bruno Latour Fund‘s ground-breaking scientific programme “A New Climate for Social Sciences” recruited ten post-doctoral researchers for a three-year period (2023-2026). The goal is to nurture a collective, multidisciplinary initiative on how the ecological and climate crises are inviting us to reconsider our history and reshape the contemporary economic, social, legal, and political order.
- In 2020, the Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Evaluation of Public Policies (LIEPP) set up a dedicated Environmental Policies Research Group that aims to make sense of environmental policies in the broadest sense – sustainable development, climate change, green growth, and, more recently, energy and ecological transitions – and to shed light on the choices made by policymakers and, more generally, a wide range of stakeholders.
Sciences Po also has strong institutional ties with IDDRI (Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations), a leading Paris-based think tank on sustainability and global governance. Many experts from IDDRI and other Paris-based organizations are closely involved in our teaching and research activities. During your stay, we would be happy to facilitate connections with these external partners or help explore potential collaborations and conversations beyond the university setting.
